RE: SAL #03SR-741

   A. REATTACHED SPECIMENS

1. All reattached specimens are firmly attached.

2. A small portion of Coral D has died and appears to have turf algae growing

       secondarily in the damaged areas.

This area is marked with a red V.  The photo is dated 04/14/04 and marked with a

blue D.  A close up photo of the same area has a blue D only.  It is dated 04/21/04.

This is the only reattached coral that is showing symptoms of recent tissue death.

    B. COMPARISON WITH REFERENCE SITE

1. All reference site coral is stable.

2. Coral #1 appears to have turf algae growing secondarily in the damaged areas.

This area is marked with a red > and the photo is dated 04/14/04.

A close up of the same area has a blue 1 and is dated 04/14/04.

3. Coral #2 is healthy.  There was a sponge that was touching the side of this coral.

This sponge is completely gone and this area is marked with a red X.  The date on

   the photo is 04/14/04.

4. Coral #3 appears to have turf algae growing secondarily in the damaged areas.

This coral is marked with a red < .  The photo is dated 4/14/0404 and marked

with a blue 3.  When comparing photographs from previous reports, it appears that

something happened between April and September of 2003.  In September of 2003

there is an obvious zooxanthellae bloom in the same general area of the dead tissue.

A close up of the same area has a blue 3 only.  The photo is dated 04/14/04.

5. Coral #4 appears to have turf algae growing secondarily in the damaged areas.

This coral is marked with a red < and is dated 04/14/04.

A close up of the same area has a blue 4 and the date on the photo is 04/14/04.

The cause of tissue death in these corals is not known at this time.  We will attempt to get samples of the growth on these dead areas for further identification.

All corals on both sites are within the DGPS below.

                                 Latitude   25 degrees, 15.866 minutes N

                                 Longitude 80 degrees, 04.276 minutes W
